ministerial visits

11 June 2009

Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, the Right Honourable Ben Bradshaw MP, visited Tate Britain today.  He was shown round Richard Long's 'Heaven and Earth' exhibition by Tate Director Sir Nicholas Serota and Assistant Curator Helen Little.

Commenting on the exhibition, Mr Bradshaw said: "I loved the Richard Long show. The artist's engagement with our natural landscapes is genuinely inspiring and reminds us once again how small we are in the natural scheme of things, but how significant our contribution to it can be.  'Heaven and Earth' is just the latest in a long line of really excellent shows at the Tate.  Its pioneering work has made it an international phenomenon."
