Government Policy on Archives Action Plan: consultation period begins
The Policy was developed through the United Kingdom Inter-Departmental Archives Committee (IDAC), chaired by the Keeper of Public Records on behalf of the Lord Chancellor. The Department of Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) is a member of IDAC and three DCMS Non-Departmental Public Bodies (the Historical Manuscripts Commission, British Library and re:source) act as expert advisors on the committee.
To take forward this ambitious policy statement, IDAC recommended that an accompanying Action Plan should be developed. This Action Plan has now been drafted and is being circulated as widely as possible for a twelve week consultation period. The document contains important policy objectives for combating social exclusion.
