Review of the Museum of Science and industry in Manchester

As part of the Department for Culture, Media and Sport's programme of reviews, it is currently undertaking a review of the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester (MSIM).

This Consultation is now closed.

It is a requirement of good Government that the bodies it funds should be reviewed every five years. The review will be comprehensive, wide-ranging and vigorous and is intended to examine how the MSIM has performed in the past and review its roles and functions and how those functions can best be carried out.

It will consider and comment on the MSIM's aims and objectives for the next few years, review the efficiency and effectiveness of the way in which it delivers its services and make recommendations for its future development and management.

Individuals and organisations with an interest in the MSIM are invited to make known their views. In particular, the Department would welcome views on the following topics:

• the purposes, aims and objectives of the MSIM;
• the MSIM's organisation, functions and delivery mechanisms
• the efficiency and effectiveness of the MSIM;
• the MSIM's responsiveness and relationship with its customers;
• the MSIM's partnerships and links with other organisations; and
• the MSIM's use of new technology.

Consultation papers are attached with more details of how the review is being conducted, the role and functions of the MSIM and the sorts of questions you might consider in your response.

The Department aims to complete the first stage of the review by the Spring.
