after the games

The legacy of hosting the Games – the difference this will make to the lives of people across London and the UK – will last long after the Games have ended.

Legacy Trust UK supports a wide range of cultural and sporting activities designed to celebrate the Games and have a lasting impact throughout the UK.

For more information about the legacy visit the Legacy Now website, or read the Legacy Plan published in December 2010.

Local legacy

Around 75 per cent of the Olympic Delivery Authority’s budget is going towards regeneration.

East London, one of the capital’s most deprived areas, will be transformed into a world-class centre for living, leisure, business and sport. The Olympic Park Legacy Company will make sure that the Olympic Park site provides the best possible educational, leisure, and commercial opportunities to the area.

Business legacy

The Games will make those companies involved fitter, more innovative and better able to compete for opportunities around the world.

They are providing hundreds of apprenticeships in a range of sectors. This will help to improve job skills in one of the most economically deprived parts of the UK.

A new regional training centre at Thames House, planned by the National Construction college, will provide thousands of construction training opportunities for Londoners. It is the first of three training schools which will provide up to 20,000 training places over the next five years.
