boosting the economy

London 2012 expects to directly award £6 billion worth of contracts, generating tens of thousands of supply chain contract opportunities.

A number of programmes and organisations exist to make sure that these opportunities will not be limited to large construction firms or those based in London.

  • The London 2012 Business Network makes sure that businesses across the UK, particularly small and medium-sized ones, are able to pitch for contracts
  • CompeteFor is an online service which provides registered businesses with advance warning of contract opportunities
  • The Host2Host programme helps develop trade links with other cities that bid for or host the Olympic Games, the Paralympic Games and other major sporting events

For further information about London 2012 business opportunities please visit the London 2012 website.

The benefits to the economy will not end when the Games do – there will be a lasting business legacy.

Tourism

We are working with VisitBritain and The Foreign & Commonwealth Office, to make sure that the tourism industry benefits as much as possible from the Games.
