Department for Culture Media and Sport
If anyone considers that a decision about a building has been wrongly made they may write to the Department for Culture, Media and Sport Listing Review Manager and request a review of the decision. The request must be made within 28 days of notification of the decision using the Review Request Form below.
The Review Request form is provided here in two formats. Both formats can be completed electronically or printed to be completed by hand. The associated Guidance Notes should be read before completing the Form.
Review requests should be sent to:
by email: review.requests@culture.gsi.gov.uk (file attachments may not exceed 11 MB).
or by post to:
The Listing Review Manager
Heritage Protection Branch
Culture Team
Department for Culture, Media and Sport

A review will only be carried out in the following circumstances:
Please note that, in the above cases, issues can only be considered which relate to the special architectural or historic interest of a building. The Principles of Selection for Listing Buildings (March 2010) sets out general principles, as well as the statutory criteria, for measuring architectural and historic interest in the national context. Factors such as the cost of the upkeep or repair of listed buildings, and planning proposals or the threat of demolition to buildings over 30 years old cannot be taken into account.
Please also note that local importance alone will not normally justify listing.
The review decision will decide whether the original decision should be upheld, amended or overturned. It is important to understand that the original decision stands unless or until overturned by a review decision. If the original decision is overturned, this will not have retrospective effect.
